Copywriting training

Need to embed a new brand voice? Or want to refresh your team’s writing skills and stand out amid the AI noise?

Copywriting training teaches your teams how to write the words your customers find relevant and interesting. Irresistible words that capture your target audiences’ attention. Words that convert that attention into loyal custom.

So, whenever you need your team to write, whether it’s for you or for your clients, they know just how to hook people in with messaging that speaks to their wants and needs.

“Katherine ran a copywriting workshop with our comms team to help us to better shout about our organisation’s offer. It was so valuable. They’re smashing it now she’s worked her magic. Katherine’s enthusiasm for the written word is infectious.”

Head of Marketing, Northern Stage

Who needs copywriting training?

I’ve trained teams at businesses large and small for over a decade. In that time, I’ve found that very few people who write copy have ever been given any formal copywriting training. At all. Even those who work in senior marketing and comms teams.

Why copywriting training matters

So, your people may be writing pitch decks, client proposals, and customer service emails. All without ever being shown the basics of how to engage your readers or land the messages you need to land.

Which gives you:

  1. Extraordinary scope to make a real difference to the quality of writing your teams produce.
  2. An opportunity to instill a newfound enthusiasm and confidence in your team’s ability to write copy that sells.
  3. A chance to reduce your reliance on external providers

“I’ve rarely left any training as energised, engaged and excited as I did from Katherine’s copywriting workshop. Interactive and intensely practical, the course was delivered with humour and honesty. I felt I could immediately apply what I’d learnt. Highly recommended.”

How copywriting training delivers value

Copywriting training improves the everyday communications that take place across your business. It helps people write pitch decks that land, client proposals that convert, and customer support emails that build brand loyalty.

But that’s not all.

Nurture team culture

Sessions also build your team’s culture, strengthen peer relationships, and support people to produce the great copy that your business demands.

The result?

You equip your sales, marketing and product teams with the persuasive skills they need to write landing pages, ads, and emails that convert prospects into loyal customers.

And develop your team’s ability to produce strategic copy, without the need for endless rounds of revisions.

And you save time and precious marketing budget.

Bespoke copywriting training sessions

I’ll work with you to plan and design in-person or online copywriting training sessions that will:

  • Address the specific challenges you face
  • Give your teams more confidence in their abilities
  • Equip your teams with persuasive copywriting skills
  • Save time, marketing budget, and ad spend
  • Reduce your reliance on external providers and AI
  • Upskill your writers to grow your business

We can revisit the fundamentals of great copy to reinvigorate even the most experienced marketing and comms teams. Embed a new brand voice. Or explore how to get the most from AI tools and prompts.

Bring your words to life, and introduce deeper, more creative thinking into your organisation.

FAQs

Do you offer in-person copywriting training?

Yes, I run in-person copywriting training for teams of people, large and small. I can travel to you and deliver training courses in the UK—or beyond.

Do you offer online copywriting training?

Yes, I can design an online course to address the business problem you’re looking to solve. I also deliver CPD-certified online copywriting training courses for Westminster Insight.

How long is a typical copywriting training courses?

Ah, the classic piece of string question. I co-design training courses with you to make sure the sessions tick off every area you want your teams to cover – from copywriting basics to the skills that will solve the problem you want to address.

So, the length of the course all depends on your brief. To give you a better idea, I can cover a couple of key challenges in half a day – more in a full day. And even more over a series of days.

How much does a copywriting course cost?

Again, it depends. Sorry not to be more helpful. I take into account the number of people you want to include, their level of experience, any problems you’ve spotted that you want to iron out, and the amount of detail you want the course to cover.

Let’s have a chat over email or on a quick call and I can be more helpful, more quickly.

What do Haydn Grey’s copywriting training courses cover?

It all depends on the skills you want your team to improve. I’ll be guided by you. We can lean into the fundamentals of creative writing and get people’s words flowing. Or refine aspects of their copywriting abilities, going back to basics and looking at your audience’s wants and needs. And we can explore how to use AI tools as a helpful writing assistant.

I’ll cover frameworks that speed up the writing process. Clarify the marketing messages that make sure your customers understand your offer. And create brand consistency across different customer touchpoints.

How can copywriting training support my brand?

It’s one thing, as a founder or manager, to understand your business in your head. It’s quite another to explain that to a marketing team in a way that makes them understand what you want to say – and how you want to say it.

The result? A disconnect between how the C-suite wants its messages to be heard, and the words produced by your internal teams. Which shows up as something feeling ‘off’ – but hard to identify.

A copywriting training course gets to the heart of the problem because it unravels how the C-suite wants the brand to be heard, aligns the brand voice with your messaging, and helps the people writing for you to deliver the brand message with clarity and consistency.

What can I expect during a Haydn Grey copywriting training course?

Not death by PowerPoint for starters. Instead, lots of group discussion, writing exercises, and a lot of laughter. There can even be tears – both happy and sad. Writing is a powerful business – even when it’s for a business.

Towards the end of the day, there will be sighs of relief, exclamations of delight, and a big lift in energy and enthusiasm as people discover their writing voices and how to apply those voices at work. Without ever resorting to ‘innovative solutions’ or asking clients how their email finds them.

What results can I expect after a Haydn Grey copywriting training course?

A more engaged team that enjoys writing for your business. Better conversion rates. More coherence and consistency. Less reliance on external providers. And consistent business growth.

Copywriting training sessions can revise and sense check your brand messaging and tone of voice. Then give your teams the confidence and the guardrails they need to do their job and make money for your business.

Are there any hidden benefits to a copywriting training course?

Many added benefits reveal themselves during and after a copywriting training course.

Much of the power of the courses I run lies in the fact that they create a space for people to step away from their inboxes and come together to focus on the craft of writing. Training sessions can reveal hidden skills and nascent abilities that managers can better employ after the course.

Copywriting training sessions are also a great way to get teams to bond, to encourage collaboration, and see colleagues championing each other’s work.

All in all, it makes for an excellent day at the office—with lasting benefits that can be seen and felt straight way.

Becky

Delegate

Westminster Insight

“That was a great day on Friday. Thanks very much. And to judge by the traffic on the team WhatsApp chat, so say all of us.”

Chris Senior

Communications and PR Manager, Framework

“Not only did our clients thoroughly enjoy the Writing Workshop Day, they said that the format of the course was ‘well thought through and fun’ and they came away ‘so positive from the session feeling armed with new found ways of communicating with our customers’.
